From Nonverbal to Verbal: The Balderas Family Success Story

The Balderas family has two boys who have been coming to Chatterbox for a few years.  One has been diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum and the other has been diagnosed with Childhood Apraxia of Speech.  Both came to Chatterbox as nonverbal and have grown tremendously in their speech and language skills over the years.  Here is their success story shared by the family:

“Chatterbox has played a huge role in my family’s lives. It has had a great impact on my two boys who have been going for nearly 5 years put together. They both have matured in the areas of speech and understanding their own environment.  My oldest son, who is now 7, was diagnosed as nonverbal autism with a delay in speech. He has grown and used to rely on an AAC device and sign language to communicate and now isn’t using sign or the device anymore!  Thanks to his dedicated speech therapists past and present, Sara, Amaisha, Melissa, and the rest of the staff at the Nampa clinic who supported him and my family. My youngest son who is now 5, was diagnosed with apraxia of speech. His speech therapist, Anna Swart has been amazing and has been dedicated to him since day one. Just over a year ago, my son was nonverbal and is now speaking in full sentences and is improving in school. I can’t say enough great things about this place.  The staff dedicates themselves in making you feel welcome.

We love you Chatterbox!”
